Dr Ellen Chang is very professional and personable, she has exceeded my expectations. She gave me understanding of the basic mechanics of why's and causes of my pain, apparently I have an imbalance due to a past injury on my left ankle that affected my right leg. She is very thorough in her diagnosing and assessment of the problem. She prescribed me a set of stretching exercise to improve my flexibility on the affected area. Definitely she is worth seeing and I highly recommend her.

As someone who has seen a lot of doctors this year, I can honestly say that Dr Chang is one of the best doctors I have ever been treated by and one of the best people that I have come to know during my treatment. I saw Dr Chang for a herniated disc and sciatica that caused chronic and intense pain. Prior to my first visit, I was barely mobile, discouraged and not able to carry out my normal day-to-day activities. During my first visit Ellen took the time to listen to my concerns, explain aspects of my diagnosis I did not understand, and develop an effective treatment plan. In the subsequent time that followed, she was extremely knowledgeable about my condition, recommended exercises that provided immediate relief, and was attentive to my body’s needs. Even more than that, she kept a positive attitude on days that were hard, was an incredible coach who helped me believe in my strength and believe that I could live a life with no back pain, and truly cared about my holistic health further than just my diagnosis. After a few months of therapy with her, I have no pain in back or legs. Ellen represents what we can still hope for in our health care system: a doctor who pays attention, who is extremely knowledgeable, caring, positive, and relentless in her support. She made me feel like myself again and I can’t thank her enough for that. I would highly recommend her for anyone who has physical therapy needs!!!

Professional, supportive, direct, knowledgeable, open, and good energy. Dr. Chang took time with me to explain, to inquire, to assess, and then to go through all of the exercises or stretches with me, all of which I can do easily from home. Dr. Chang is a true professional in her field and very attentive to her patients. I would highly recommend Dr. Chang for anyone who is seeking physical therapy

My biggest kudos have to go to the AMAZING, high professional and extremely attuned Lauren Chang. Dr. Chang, (DPT) is a real master of the P/T art. She helped me with my pinched nerve and herniated discs in my neck at a point when I wasn't sure I could get better. With Lauren's help and guidance, I am nearly cured. She's subtle yet profound in her techniques, listens acutely to her patients, and is just absolutely skilled at what she does. I'm a picky, difficult, hard to please patient. If I am giving Lauren 5 stars, then that's kind of a big deal. I literally can only say good things. Lauren herself is quite fit, so she's practicing what she preaches, and her high energy level, smile, and positive/caring energy are contagious. I've watched Lauren work with other patients, too, while I'm doing pilates after getting worked on, and her manner with people of all ages, types, genders, etc. is just superlative. Patients clearly enjoy their work with Lauren, and she's a people person who can relate to anybody. If you get her as your P/T, you're in luck! I think she knows more than most orthopedic surgeons I've gone to-- and if you have questions, she answers them in a smart yet accessible way.

I have been coming for post-op care from shoulder surgery, after dealing with a torn rotator cuff, torn labrum, capsular rupture, bone spurs, and bursitis. Lauren is my Physical Therapist, and she is great! I have had pretty much every complication during this rehab process, and Lauren has been able to think outside of the box to address my specific needs, ensuring progress at each step. She is friendly, patient, and very knowledgable in the field of PT, never giving up on me even though I have gotten discouraged along the way. [Note: Whatever exercises/stretches you are given during a session, learn them and learn their proper form, then go home and DO THEM as often as you are instructed. If you don't do the exercises in their proper form at home at the frequency you are supposed to do, you aren't going to see the results you expect. Period. Ohm and don't give up halfway through the post-op rehab process. If you don't commit to rehabbing fully and completely, you may restrict range of motion and/or strength permanently. Just a friendly PSA.

I just completed (hopefully) my last session with Lauren Chang and I can't say enough about her. After some serious leg issues last year culminated with my hamstring perpetually strained, my chiropractor recommended I start physical therapy. My first session with Lauren we discussed all my ailments and she gave me a complete examination Lauren is extremely professional, knowledgable and easy to talk to. I never felt rushed or ignored and was never pushed beyond what was comfortable for my body. I have officially "graduated" from PT and I can't thank Lauren enough. She helped me get back to peak physical shape when I needed it the most. I guarantee you won't be disappointed if you decide to go with Lauren.

Lauren was my PT in the past when I used to work/live in NYC and after I moved back I started to have lower back issues again and never hesitated to fit in into the schedule all within the two weeks that I visited for work. I love Lauren so much that I only come to NYC for the sessions. It's sad that I don't get that level of service in SF. I could tell Lauren was very knowledgable in her field because her attention to detail and explanation (Also overheard that she's constantly studying on new materials to keep herself up to date). Of course I had no idea what she was referencing but I could tell that she was intelligent and very patient with me. Honestly, I wish I could bring her back with me to SF. But then I would be extremely selfish to the rest of her patients. Now I'm here sitting in my new PT office back home in SF, wishing I had the same experience. Things aren't th same without Lauren!

First, a bit about my journey. I am 40 years old and 5 years ago I had surgery for a herniated disc I developed when I was pregnant. Because I could not be treated while pregnant, I had a long recovery afterwards. 2 months ago I herniated another disc on the other side of my lower back. In addition I developed Bursitis of the hip. I was in so much pain I could not sleep. I am a teacher and missed a whole week of work! My orthopedist referred me to the surgeon because I lost strength in my left leg and foot. The surgeons said I would need surgery if I ever wanted strength back in my leg. 2 weeks after a double steroid shot in my back, I met Lauren. Lauren evaluate me and set me on a plan to bring back strength to my leg, reactivate my core and lower inflammation of my disc. After 2 months of therapy with Lauren, I am (mostly) pain free and I have gained tremendous strength back in my leg. I cheer every time I do the penguin walk! No surgery for me! I have learned that if I don't correct the issues with my core and strengthen muscles I've lost from childbirth, I will continue to re-injure myself. I'm happy I've recently "graduated" to cycle Pilates into my routine in order to round out my revery and build a better core to prevent future injury.
